Expect big changes for Good Charlotte's third album, due this September
on Epic Records. "You can deinately see our growth as musicians," says singer Joel Madden. "You'll still
hear classic Good Charlotte-type things in the songs, but there's a more midtempo [material]; it's a little bit more rock-influenced, I
guess. For the last couple years, Billy [Martin, guitarist] has been really tripping on the band Muse,
and he's going guitar crazy."
Naturally, Madden's lyrics draw from the super-charged event's of GC's
past two years- although not the events you might expect. "When we say [we're writing about] what's happened over the last
two years, everyone goes 'Oh, you mean your record did well,' or 'You were on tour,'" he says. "But everyone forgets that
we're just five guys in a band, and we all have lives at home, too, that fall apart when you're on the road. It creates alot
of interesting subjects to write about, so I've been writing about my life and how I feel."
